About Us

The Sierra Foothills are blessed with rich musical offerings! Perhaps it's the legacy of early immigrants,
or maybe the quality of music education in our schools, or even the influx of people with developed
cultural tastes in the last few decades. Whatever the reasons, foothill-dwellers have a deep
appreciation for good music and, for some of us, a desire to participate in performing great
music as well.
Ken Hardin has been a major influence in developing our musical tastes by teaching music classes
at Sierra College, Nevada County Campus for a number of years. People love to sing under Ken's
demanding yet fun direction, and his College concert choir grew to 75 voices. Unexpectedly,
the college administration established new guidelines for performing classes that made it impossible
for the large concert choir to continue as a college program.
The choristers decided to establish a new, auditioned choir as a private, non-profit group, raising
funds and establishing policies and procedures that would allow them to continue to perform in the
community. Sierra Master Chorale was born and was pleased to hire Ken Hardin as its founding director.
The new Chorale chose to form under Twin Cities Concert Association's umbrella. TCCA is a non-profit
organization whose mission is to bring great music to the community. We think it's a marriage made in
heaven.
